Brainology

I just read an article about Brainology -- a study program that teaches kids how the brain actually works.  Several things caught my eye.  They discussed how beliefs about a person's intelligence (skill, or lack thereof) would actually shape their motivation and performance.  In one video, a girl mentioned she was taught she could memorize something easier if she also said it and wrote it down... What if your audio, visual and kinesthetic representational capabilities were highly developed?

Check out RadioLab podcast episode on "A 4-Track Mind".  They interview a man who can track 4 symphonies simultaneously in his mind. He uses audio, visual and kinesthetic representations as well as a "Google Maps" zooming technique. Remarkable!

Social Animal

I haven't read his book yet, but this TED Talk by David Brooks makes me want to rush right out and get it.  He discusses rapport, how we learn through emotions and how the skills we have and don't have impact our lives and our society.  Enjoy!
